April 13, 2006 - FROM HAWAII TO WASHINGTON
In December 2005 me and my husband Doug moved from Hawaii to Washington. From 360 days of sunshine to the equivalent of rainy days. After the 30th consecutive day of rain we looked at each other and hissed through blue chapped lips - Whos idea was this anyway?
Now, 4 months later, spring seems to be on its way, we've stopped shivering and it's actually starting to feel like home (In a wet and muggy kind of way).
We've also taken the step from being town-home tenants to proud home owners. With it we got our very own yard (that for some reason has more moss growing in it than grass), a three-car garage (with no room for cars since it's filled with junk already) and a life-saving hot-tub on our lanai (or deck, for you "Mainlanders").
Our cat, Athena, who came with us from Hawaii loves her new hunting grounds and the interesting new prey. She'd never seen a grey squirrel in her life and now her backyard is filled with them.
Well, you know what they say, rainy days filled with squirrels make for a place to rest your soul... Hmmm... Anyway, Aloha my friends, until next time.
